what are your favorite real estates sites or blogs to visit?

Dustin Keeth answered:
That is weird about the thumbs downs on many of the posts. Maybe its because of so many new people to trulia and them getting overly excited to hit a button.

But come on "thumb down givers" unless a post is really bad or offensive leave it alone. If a post is not great, but isn't offensive or spamming well then just leave it. It's neither a thumbs up or a thumbs down.

Hi Rhonda to answer your question I do have a blog. I actually have a couple. I really would like to have a blog that deals with individual neighborhoods. So I started this but really haven't perfected them as I am actually revamping a bunch of my online marketing/information. Finding the time to blog is difficult too. I think I like reading more than writing.

You can check out mine but as I said they're rough. I put news about the area and about local things going on. I have some personal things up there like my daughter singing and, what I think is a great letter I wrote to my clients about when my father went through cancer treatments. For those of you that don't know me my dad and I have been working as a team in real estate for over 17 years. So on top of being my dad, he's also my real estate partner.

I think my dads letter is on my http://www.morehomes.net blog (not .com)

I also have http://www.LivinginBurien.com and http://www.LivinginNormandyPark.com and a few more but I really am not plugging my own stuff. Dont want to many THUMBS Down :-) People getting all excited.

Keep up all the good posts. i am looking at everyone of the blogs people suggest. Off to go thumb wrestle with my daughters. - Sun Mar 16 2008, 12:16
thanks guys keep up the good work. I love all the suggestions. Now I just have to find some time to read all my new blogs. - Fri Mar 14 2008, 00:27
I dont think I put this in the agent2agent section. I really didnt care if agents plugged their own sites or the general readers posted their favorite sites. I like to know what everybody interested in real estate likes to read up on.
Thanks All, - Wed Mar 12 2008, 00:59
I think the thumbs down must be people not finding agents plugging their own blogs. I dont mind the plugs maybe these agents do have great blogs. i have a few blogs myself. Haven't plugged them by the way.. I like hearing everyone's feedback. i've read most of this over the past year or so. Just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing any good information out there. - Wed Mar 12 2008, 00:09

sure people do this all the time. i just wouldn't buy the best house in a neighborhood. i don't really know the Scarsdale area but I can do some research early this week for you. - Sun Mar 9 2008, 21:44
Dustin Keeth answered:
Many people like to purchase on the West side of 1st in Normandy Park because of the Schools (Marvista is the desired Elementary School). Also, it's a little difficult to get a view from the East side of 1st Ave. As someone already mentioned the further you can get away from Pacific Highway and Airplane noise the better. - Fri Mar 7 2008, 01:17

I have owned and sold many a rental home. The biggest thing you'll find is you will want it within 30 mins or less if you plan to manage the property yourself. The drive back and forth will drive you crazy. Also, if you plan to manage yourself I would suggest looking into this company http://www.olympicrental.com/ it is very helpful in know how to manage rentals. The service is very inexpensive and it has save me thousands of dollars and headaches in dealing with tenants. Good luck. Try looking in the North Hill area of Des Moines you can get some great deals in that area. - Fri Mar 7 2008, 01:03

How much value can adding a second full bath bring?

Dustin Keeth answered:
Hi Meg,

Before anyone can give you a great answer you'd need to know a little more information. It depends on your current layout of your home. Is it 2 bedrooms 1 bath? Adding a full bath in a home with only 2 bedrooms would not increase your value as much, if you had a 3 bedroom home. Can the bath be added somewhere that is more cost efficient. I added a 3/4 bath to a utility area in a rental of mine and it was well worth the investment. I'd be more than happy to tailor an answer to your question if I knew a little more about the situation. Also, be very selective in the contractor you select, make sure you have a set budget and stick to it. By the way I added that ¾ bath for less than $4,000. Good luck - Fri Mar 7 2008, 00:41
