I am a native of Southern California and was raised in the San Fernando Valley. I have lived in the Santa Clarita Valley for the past 17 years. After a long standing career in Law Enforcement, I went on to receive a Degree in Accounting. I spent 5 years as a Mortgage Broker, learning everything on the finance side of Real Estate. I see the value of homeownership as an investment and that your family is the most important including your pets. I am married for the past 10 years and have two beautiful children ages 7 and 8, along with our other baby, Odette our dog.
You have received a lot of good advice from a lot of people. Let me just say what you probably already know by now. It varies from state to state but your best bet is to interview other agents in your area and ask them those questions as well as you are looking for the right fit to sell your current home. I don't know New Jersey law, but in California you do not owe a agent a commission unless you are the seller and the deal goes through, or states a commission in the contract, I believe this agent told you that you owe them a commission to keep you with them. For you peace of mind interview more agents. - Wed Aug 15 2007, 08:41
The SCV is better than the SFV because people came here to get away from the dirt, crime and anti family that the SFV has. And yes the homes are more affordable. A family can get a home twice the size as the SFV and have other families in their neighborhoods. When I was a kid, everyone played outside and you knew your neighbors. You are afraid of your neighbors in the Valley. The SCV is one of the safest cities and everyone knows their neighbors and is very community friendly. Kids play outside. The SCV is what the SFV use to be 20-30 years ago. - Fri Jul 27 2007, 13:07
