As long as you have not signed a buyer broker agreement, going to another Realtor at this point would hardly be uncommon. Perhaps he is unsure of your level of commitment to him, buying a home in general and why you have not gotten prequaled yet. Getting a pre approval letter is key before taking out people. Maybe your agent feels like he might be wasting his time. You are under no obligation to him, nor he to you. This situation is a Catch 22 - Mon Sep 29 2008, 08:50

That is a great question. Of course most agents do not want to just " show homes" ; they want to have their buyers make offers. However, making offers is the key point. Making reasonable and acceptable offers based on market value and comps is key. You could low ball a home in Fairbanks and want to purchase it and not get it because you are not being realistic about the asking price you offer. If you want an agent who can " show" AND help purchase, I would love to help, OR I can help you find a top agent. Either way, I can help you " purchase" a home, or help find that agent who can help, which was your original question.
