Need an Agent in the San Francisco Bay Area

Greg Corvi answered:
Here's my pitch. 8 years as a Realtor. I have offices in Castro Valley and San Ramon. Lived in S.F. for over 30 years and about 40 years in the Bay Area. Am a member of the Bay East Association of Realtors and S.F. Board. Have sold many homes in the East Bay, Peninsula, and the City. Do not Farm a specific area or claim to be "the neighborhood expert". Very good knowledge of the various cities in the Bay Area...not afraid to get in the car(even with gas prices today). Feel free to call or email me. Good luck with the sale of your property in Boston, moving from one great city to another!

Hello,
Danville/San Ramon school district is very good. Both cities are in the same school district. Pleasanton has a small time feel with a quaint downtown. BART ride is about an hour into downtown S.F from these 3 cities.. A bit closer is Lafayette, Orinda, Moraga area. Down from that is Walnut Creek, which has more of a "City" feel and nice Mall. You can check outhttp:// www.greatschools.net is a good resource to compare school scores. Good luck with your relocation and ultimate decision.

Advice on Areas Around San Francisco?

Greg Corvi answered:
Hi,
If "City Living" is for you, then South of Market area would be ideal for both commutes. There are a few other neighborhoods that might work, depending on your situation. Lake Merrit area in Oakland is nice, again if you want more of "city living" feel. Walnut Creek has BART for the S.F. commute and some of Berkeley. Condo market in Walnut Creek is pretty soft right now. You must like the heat, though! It sounds like you are looking at "BART" hubs. Dublin might be kind of far out depending on how much commute time you can tolerate. Regarding investment risk, during down times, areas closer to the main cities seem to hold up better...but even this can be inconsisitent, e.g. South City and Daly City. You really need to drive around, talk to locals and get more of a feel since you have not been here that long. Feel free to contact me with any questions. Good luck, this is a great place to live!

Hi,
As Cindi said, your choices are varied for a number of reasons. Depending on the age of your children(if any), where you work(commute reasons), your interests, the weather etc..., you need to decide what your priorities are. There are several very good areas which boast good school ratings in Castro Valley, 5 Canyons and Palomares Hills are just a couple. I lived in Castro Valley for 7 years and San Francisco for over 30 years. I am a native to the Bay Area and would be open to talking to you about the various areas. Feel free to call or email me if you like. Good luck with your decision making.

Hi Michele,
Based on Statistics from Trendgrahix, a source that compiles data from public records, it notes the following for Castro Valley: June 2005 Average Sold price was $723,000 with average square foot price of $398 a square foot. June 2008 Average Sold price was $547,000 with average square foot price of $315 a square foot. There are more things to consider than just statistics, which some times do not paint an accurate picture. Regarding the different neighborhoods in Castro Valley...there are some very distinct areas. I lived in Castro Valley for 7 years, have sold many homes and have an office in Castro Valley, as well. Please feel free to call or email me with any questions or if to discuss your situation more in detail. Best of luck to you.
