What are the most important considerations in buying a home?

Andrew Killingsworth answered:
Scott, that is a great question. With all the attention on foreclosures I would say that the most important consideration is financing. Can you afford the home? Is your income steady enough to make payments on time? If something were to happen to you would you have enough to make payments without any income? I have some great info at my blog. What outdoor activities are available in San Angelo?

Andrew Killingsworth answered:
If you like golfing San Angelo has great options. We have a municipal course called Santa Fe. It is very affordable but only has nine holes to play. Since we have had so much rain the greens and fairways are very fresh. Riverside is another affordable option for golfers on a budget. Quicksand is a higher end course for serious golfers. As the title suggests there are quite a few sand traps so watch out! Bentwood and San Angelo Country Clubs are two private clubs and require membership but have great courses if you get a chance to play. - Mon Jul 30 2007, 16:33

Where is the best place to go jogging?

Andrew Killingsworth answered:
Great question Scott! I like the dam. It spans a long distance and the ground is level and solid. Another great place to jog is by the Concho River starting around Santa Fe Park. The scenery there is wonderful. - Mon Jul 30 2007, 16:28

Why don't many realtors return calls in a timely manner?

Andrew Killingsworth answered:
I am a new Realtor in a small town in Texas and I struggle to break through all the other Realtors who have been in the business a lot longer than I. One thing I pride myself on is my responsiveness. I am usually able to answer my phone calls and email messages within a few minutes and at most an hour or two. I like to use the example of a waitor or waitress at a restaurant who has so many tables that she doesn't pay enough attention to each table to earn a good tip. If there are too many customers at one time for her to handle this is a management issue and her workload should be reduced. It is the same for Realtors who have too many clients to address new leads. You must use leverage and hire an assistant or maybe a buyers assistant to lighten the load so that you can address your new leads. - Mon Jul 30 2007, 16:22
Andrew Killingsworth answered:
Whatever you call it, staging or professional enhancement, as long as it reduces clutter and creates a functional but neutral space in the property it is worth it to me. Homeowners tend to get comfortable with their living arrangement and don't see why buyers would not like their magenta painted walls or floral wallpaper. The real trick is to get your seller to agree to it, especially if the property is still occupied. - Mon Jul 30 2007, 16:15
