About Me
A veteran of many childhood relocations, Cheryl learned early the importance of a place to call "home". Each move brought the expected change in friends, schools, and location. However, home was the place that remained constant, a comfortable space . . . a safe haven.

Sometimes it was a rambler, or a 2 story. Sometimes there was a shared bedroom, or a room of her own. Sometimes in the United States, or in Canada. Once the backyard was the Ottawa River in Canada, at another she watched the Brandywine Harness Races from a bedroom window in Delaware.

No matter the shape, color or size, home is a place to dream dreams, live enthusiastically . . . and most of all, a place to love life.

Heidi,

Yes. There are active duplex listings in the Sandy/Draper/Riverton area. If the area is expanded, there are additional listings. Tell a little more about your needs.

Clint,

Remember the concept of supply & demand we learned in high school economics? The Layton area has many homes in a variety of price ranges. While considering the options with buyers this past week, and talking with many of the listing agents, we drew the conclusion that supply is far greater than demand in the Layton area. There are great homes available! And many sellers willing to negotiate.

Your next best step is to contact a real estate professional you have confidence in, who will share with you the data on this area, and guide you through understanding what that market looks like now, how it relates to its history, and what the future might bring.

Real Estate markets are local markets. While the news in much of the country is less than positive, it is not the reality for much of Utah. We will see an impact from the rest of the country in our local markets from those moving to Utah who have homes to sell. However, our markets have maintained a stronger position returning to the more typical activity of a few years ago.

Todd, Andrew & Judy have given you great insights from their professional experience. Add to that your understanding of supply & demand, and apply it to the Layton area to find the best decision for you.

is it crazy so spend millions in holladay?

Cheryl Lyon answered:
Greene,

As with many areas of the country, specific local real estate markets may not make sense. Anecdotal information you hear may differ significantly from the empirical data available.

Your best bet? Contact a local real estate professional and ask them to sit down with you, and look at the statistics available to them in their work. They will be able to zero in on an area and answer your questions and concerns with viable data. This will help you make a sound decision.

To answer your last question ... Holladay is a beautiful area, with stunning homes and a convenient location ... and no, you are not an idiot. You are asking the questions to get answers to make an informed decision about a large investment. You are brilliant!

Happy home buying,
