I have been selling real estate since 1980 and have been a multi-million $ producer most of the time. In 1980, with interest rates at 17% and climbing, I produced so well, my broker said, "Somebody tell Flo it's a bad market. I am an associate broker and have the GRI designation. I was given the first award for professionalism in 1984 by the Coastal Association. I have taken (and passed) the ABR course but have not kept my membership current. I am a summa cum laude graduate of Western Maryland College (now renamed but a lot of us do not recognize the new name( and have a masters' in English Lit from U-Conn. I have taught high school and college English and have ;published about 50 pieces, most notably a short story in Cosmopolitan, araticles in Baltimore Sunday Sun, and just recently a novel about a teacher's first year: "Those Who Can, Teach." I can quote you Shakespeare while selling you a house or selling your house.

I think a good way to choose a neighborhood is to rent for a short time and ride around. "Best" is a relative term. One person's best may be another's worst: .For example someone who doesn't want to be around small children would probably not choose a neighborhood with lots of small children; parents looking for a neighborhood with small children might not like a neighborhood where residents are mostly elderly (though there might be a lot of grandmotherly snacks for the kids.) Bad credit is best repaired by paying down your credit cards and establishing a period of time where you pay on time. The best way to determine how to mend your credit is to consult a mortgage officer. I would be happy to give you some tips: my dad owned bill collection agencies and we learned the importance of good credit almost from birth . Sometimes, it is a long process to repair credit but it is definitely worth the work. Good luck. Flo Wootten, Prudential Carruthers Salisbury. - Tue Aug 5 2008, 13:06
I would interview several brokers and see which you are most comfortable with. Also as a beginning agent, you should look for a company that provides in -house training. When I started in 1980, I was lucky to be with a company that did weekly in house training. The company I am with now, Prudential,Carruthers also provvides a lot of training for new agents. Come to Salisbury and join us at Prudential.Carruthers. Sincerely, Flo Wootten - Tue Jul 29 2008, 11:26
