My thought would be that if the causeway includes a bridge over water, and that the body of land is not connected to the mainland by terra firma at one end or the other, then it is an island. If there is connection by land at one end or the other, then it would be a peninsula, like my own Pinellas County, Florida. - Wed Apr 29 2009, 18:43
