The direction I would point you would depend on your answers to a few more questions. First and foremost, what type of properties are you interested in? Are you looking for homes to rehab and resell or are you looking for rental properties? If so, are you comfortable doing foreclosures, do you prefer dealing with REO properties, or properties that are not distressed with current incomes. Are you looking for commercial or residential properties? Single family homes, multifamily homes, or even trailer parks. All are available in the Chattanooga and north Georgia area. There are currently 15 active listing on the Chattanooga MLS in Catoosa County (Ringgold, Rossville, Ft. Oglethorpe, Tunnel Hill). Financing can sometimes be a concern if they are not on permanent foundations. Depending on your situation, there is also a small park for sale that the income almost offsets the payment. Having just found Trulia, I apologize for my late response. I have lived in Ringgold all my life, and the schools here have received high marks. The community is extremely friendly and historic, though a quick drive up I75 gets you to all the shopping, dining, and entertainment of Chattanooga. My fiancé is a 3rd grade teacher in a local elementary school with a special education degree. Another option to consider might be just across the state line into Georgia. A thought that is close to both dining and is a more upscale community would be the Windstone Golf Community.
