Testimonials
"“My wife and I selected Ed Gory to market and sell our home in Redwood City, CA, in June 2008, when we were faced with a job transition and relocation that would take us out of state. Ed proved to be an excellent choice for us, particularly as we were balancing the transition, new job, and young family -- and attempting to do so with the least possible disruption to our children. During our real estate agent evaluation process and even after we sold our home, he maintained a consistent work style of thoroughness and helpfulness. He exceeded our expectations by working to our demanding schedule -- and by helping to coordinate contractors that worked on our home when we simply couldn't -- an example of something he wasn't expected to do, but did anyway because he wanted to do the right thing. His research, instincts, and guidance on pricing our house proved to be very important, also. The end result was that we sold our home very quickly and at a good price in a sub-optimal real estate market. Ed Gory is highly recommended, and we wouldn't hesitate to use him again.”"

"“Ed is one of those guys who you just feel is going to get the job done. He does what he says he will do and he has a great sense of humor to carry you through those nervous moments of a business transaction. I would place my trust in Ed for my next transaction without hesitation.”"

"“As a mortgage broker, I meet many Realtors. However when it came time to sell my home, I chose to work with Ed and I was very glad I did. He's aggressive yet ethical and personable. He came up with creative/effective ways to market my home. And he gave me advice that although potentially not in his best interest, was definitely in mine. I highly recommend Ed to my clients, friends, and family.”"

"“At a time when the market for selling a house was getting pretty tough, Ed approached it with enthusiasm and his creative marketing background. As a result, our house sold almost immediately at a higher than asking price. Ed's personable outlook made it a pleasure to work with him and I'm sure everyone involved in selling a house felt the same. Ed made a stressful time just about pain-free.”"

"“I've known Ed for quite some time. We used to work together at a software company. So when I wanted to buy a house in Monterey, I turned to him for help. Ed was diligent, finding lots of places for us to look at. When we found our dream home, he took extremely good care of us. From dealing with the seller's real estate agent, to helping resolve issues with the mortgage broker. When it's time to sell/buy another, I'm definitely going to trust Ed to be my agent again.”"

"“We had a terrific experience working with Ed to find a house. Ed is a high-integrity guy who really looks out for his clients. He is never pushy, very helpful, and a lot of fun to work with. Ed gave us great advice and helped us with competitive bidding situations. To get our house we had to beat out 7 other offers, some of which were higher than ours. Ed helped us navigate that successfully. We'd definitely work with him again”"

Sold prices

Ed Gory answered:
Another way that might be quicker is just to look up the address on Zillow.com. For the most part, I believe they have the last known sold price. But take some of the other info (i.e. their Zestimate) with a grain of salt. I just looked up my house in Redwood City, and it had the correct last sales price, but had all the corresponding schools totally wrong - Sat Nov 15 2008, 13:25

Is this house still for sale?

Ed Gory answered:
The only currently active home on the MLS near there is the one on Wellesley Crescent. If the one you're thinking of is 244 Edgewood, that one was pulled from the market back in August. - Sat Nov 8 2008, 10:52

Looking for a fixer upper in Burlingame...do they exist?

Ed Gory answered:
Hello Carol. I'll say that much of this depends on what you're budgeting, whether you're looking at something like a 2/1 to expand upon, or something that's a total knock-down. From a dollar perspective comparison, a fixer in the San Mateo/border of Burlingame area will be less expensive than one directly in the city of Burlingame. But off the top of my head, here's some to think of:
- 1280 Oak Grove for $750K
- 1604 Devereaux for $999K
- 819 Walnut for $1.4M - Sun Nov 2 2008, 08:25

I recently interviewed Jan Christensen, the Superintendant of Redwood City Schools earlier in the year on my monthly real estate podcast. While it may not answer directly the Northstar question, it will give you a good insight into what's being done to improve RC schools, and how to best interpret things like API scores.... check it out at http://tinyurl.com/4xc4zj - Sun Oct 5 2008, 23:03
Ed Gory answered:
Values have held up well. Here's the median price in PV for the last years (per our local association's data).
2003: $1,534,500
2004: $1,700,000
2005: $1,855,000
2006: $1,805,000
2007: $1,925,000

Pros are nice, verdant neighborhoods, very peaceful, good long-term value, good-sized lots, and more.
Cons, just my opinion, is that most if not all of PV is on septic (not street supplied sewer). - Wed Aug 20 2008, 12:03
