The best advice I can give is to come hang out for a while before choosing a specific neighborhood. I like Tom & Milan's answers below. You could easily live in the Pealr District or inner- East side without needing a car. - Wed Sep 10 2008, 10:09

Unfortunately FHA will not approve you with back taxes being owed. Depending on your situation your best bet would be a lease-option to buy or seller carry back. - Tue Aug 12 2008, 09:05

Kila;
Congrat’s on your move to Hillsboro! I hope that it turns out to be a great move for you. I typically recommend to home-buyers to speak with a couple different real estate professionals and mortgage professionals to figure out which one you feel most comfortable with. The bottom line is that there is a lot of asymmetric information in any industry (i.e. real estate, mortgage, insurance, etc.). It can be very difficult for consumers to accurately analyze who is offering them the best service. By talking my a few different people your intuition will very often provide a good indication of who is providing you with the best situation.
I would invite you to contact me and others in my business. I appreciate the opportunity.

When done prudently real estate investing can offer amazing long-term returns on your capital. However, when done poorly it can also become a huge drain on your cash-flow. That said, I would recomend teaming up with an experienced real estate professional & mortgage professional who can help educate you on ALL the considerations you should be making. I agree with the other answers to your question. This is a great environment to buy in. However, it's still wise to do your homework......
I live in the area and own investment property and would be happy to answer further questions. My blog below has my contatc information. - Mon Aug 11 2008, 07:54

You may have already gotten this issue taken care of but if not feel free to contact me. As a mortgage broker/ banker we have the ability to approve many different condo's depending on your clients situations. I can't guarantee anything but hopefully I can at least get you moving in the right direction. - Wed Aug 6 2008, 13:02
