Hi Sally,
You might want to use an organization such as ACORN Housing, They will work with you to help rebuild your credit as well as helping you qualify for a loan. Their loans are funded by Bank of America and Chase. They eliminate a lot of the associated fees that many lenders tack on to loans. They do a great job for first time buyers as well as people purchasing their next homes. Their only fee is $20 to pull your credit report. Good luck.

Hi Alisa,
The Happy Valley and Clackamas areas offer great schools and homes with larger lots. In the price range of $350k - $420k you can find a wide choice of homes with three to four bedrooms and 2 1/2 to 3 baths, nice yards, close by shopping and five to six minutes to the 205 and another ten to the 205/84 interchange. Most of these homes in this area have HOA's and/or CC&R's that restrict RV parking. There are several close by storage yards that might be a choice. Regarding financing, You need to speak to a lender at the earliest to verify what you qualify for. This is a painless process and most of your questions can be answered over the phone. - Sat Mar 8 2008, 21:01
A good place to start looking for a mortgage when your credit score is a challange is with a non profit organization that helps buyers understand the home buying process and helps them determine the maximum priced home they should look for. Several of my clients have used ACORN Housing. There only fee is $20 for a credit report. They will work with you to help raise your score and reduce or waive as many fees as possible including PMI. They are funded by Bank Of America. Their local phone number is 503-788-9989. - Wed Mar 5 2008, 13:39
