About Me
I have been a full-time Realtor since 1997. I feel that it is my responsibility to help Buyers and Sellers make the right decisions in their real estate transactions. Although I live in the Washington County area, I service the entire tri-county area.

I am not a rental agent, however, my company does - normal rule of thumb is 1% of value of home. If you purchase the unit for $60,000; then you can assume to get around $600/month in rent. There are other condos in this vicinity, so it would appear that renting should be an easy task. It is also located near busline which is also an important factor to tenants who commute in this manner. Good luck. - Sat Aug 16 2008, 04:42

Good luck! There is no way of finding out how much was spent, unfortunately. If they refinanced to accomplish this, then the county website will show their new amount as $1. Depending on the neighborhood, he may have 'over improved'. It appears you like this home, why don't you suggest an independent appraisal prior to offer? This way you both will know what the home is actually worth in todays market and then you can make the seller a fair offer. - Sun Aug 3 2008, 05:19

Hemingway appears to be in Oakland . . . by way of Mapquest. Would need a number to give specific location. There could be another 'Hemingway' in Shadyside . . . . As Crystal mentioned earlier, Pittsburgh is made up of lots of small towns and boroughs and in alot of cases they intersect with each other. Oakland is a part of downtown near the major hospitals and Universities; Shadyside is a bit east of Oakland and is still in part of the medical district and is a 'sought after' neighborhood by individuals who work downtown and like city living. Good luck with your search here . . . I am originally for the DC area; lived here for 18 years and this is now 'home' to me. My family is still in the VA and MD areas, but I truly do not miss it. - Sun Jul 27 2008, 04:41

I think it depends on the size of Lintels you need replaced. Obviously the ones above windows would be cheaper than the one above a garage - due to length. Unfortunately I don't know what this may cost, but would try to get the seller to pay or to pay for a portion. Still buy? It depends if you feel you got a good deal for this home and by paying for these repairs still makes it worth it. - Tue Jul 15 2008, 03:37

Whitehall good area or bad

Debi Gallagher answered:
Obviously two of these answers are assuming you meant an area named Whitehall near Philly. I believe you are speaking of Whitehall in the South Hills of Pittsburgh. As Lynn, of Dallas, TX, wrote - we are not allowed by the code of ethics to say whether neighborhood are good or bad. We can give you information, i.e., websites, local contacts, etc., so you can research and make your own judgement. Sorry . . . but those are the rules. Good luck . . . - Sat Jul 5 2008, 10:10
