One thing to watch for in the Poconos is that there is plenty of growth in some areas spurred on by New Yorkers who take the commute down the I-80 corridor. You might find your weekend home will simply become a suburban home in an an area that swells on weekends. Something to consider. One of Philadelphia's best kept secret is Northwood. This neighborhood lies conveniently close to all the major routes and very close to public transportation. There are several schools of note such as Northwood Academy, a charter school, and HR Edmunds Elementary, a historically well performer. The Houses in the area are mainly twins and singles with plenty of grassy areas and trees. It is a really nice pocket of the city. It is locate in the Northeast.
