It is interesting that the answers here aren't consistent. I suppose the ability to buy another home down the road will be dictated more by the lending atmosphere at the time. The fact that, as Realtors and Mortgage lenders, we can't find a concrete answer definitely adds a few more questions for a potential short seller to consider.
