Owner/Manager for Americana Beach Motel September 1981—February 2005
After over 20 years of working for family in the hospitality industry the business was purchased and operated for 5 more years before selling in 2005. There were many happy experiences associated with working with family which influenced my decision to go to work for Joe Scaperotta, my brother-in-law in his real estate office. The motel business is very intensive and requires great problem solving skills, negotiating, and people skills. It also requires a lot of hard work and long hours which prepared me for my new career in real estate. The most important skill developed from operating a motel was the ability to keep a cool, clear thinking head in difficult situations and being able to come up with solutions to these difficult situations.
