Matt,
THis really depends on where you want to live. In the Beach citites that has always been true but in Palos Verdes where I live and work, the bigger the better currently. You need to be more specific about where you want to live to get an accurate answer.
Thanks,

Dear Melody,
A detached condominium is an unusual term for this type of home. Ususally, this is called a PUD which is a plaaned unit develpement. This sounds more like what you are describing. These usually have excellent resale and sell for much more than a condo/townhome because of their individual yards. THey will not sell as much as a single family home but if it is new, I have seen them sell for as much as a older single family home in the same area.

Hi Jennifer,
The luxury home market depends on what is the high end properties in your area. It is ususally the top 10% of the market. Each real estate office in your area has a critieria that your home has to meet to consider it a luxury home for advertising purposes. It is best to check with a realtor in your area.

Hi Jorge,
The best way to check for crime in you rneighborhood is to check with the local police station. My clients who work on the Special Gang Task Forces use this for their home shopping. THey will have a record of all crimes and the street location.
Good Luck,

The luxury home market is not showing much of a drop less than 10%. If the property has a great ocean view like in Palos Verdes some of my properties are haveing multiple offers and one neighborhood has increased as much as $100,000.00 since January. My company has market trend charts available to our clients so they can chart the pricer per square foot in their neighborhood of the South Bay from 4/06 to 07/07. It is a great tool in tracking the market. It depends what price range you consider the luxury home market to determine an accurate tracking. - Wed Jul 25 2007, 00:17
