Banks are negotitable as long as offer is reasonable. Most of the time they will help wtih closing costs.

Why are the homes in the Port St. Lucie area so much less expensive than just south of there?

Port St. Lucie was part of the big construction boom. A lot of investors and speculators bought with ARM mortgages. It has one of the highest foreclosure rates in the state.

Jobs are an issue. There are more jobs further south.

People were commuting but the higher gas prices had an impact.

The city infrastructure is just catching up to the growth. Public utilities was becoming an issue.

Port St. Lucie definitely has a high inventory which also drives prices down. - Sat Nov 8 2008, 20:39
