Being a Realtor is like running your own business, the only difference is you have to front the time and money, make good decisions and hope you are adept enough to stay in business because unless you charge for consulting, the only way you make money is IF a transaction closes. If it doesn't close, the advertising dollars, time and all other efforts put forth are wastedand you have no money to pay the mortgage or other bills. This is why we need to strive to be informed, educated, help each other AND be able to help people with their real estate needs. If we don't do our jobs WELL - we can't pay the bills and don't stay in business long! As a REALTOR, most of us are in charge of it all - you are the receptionist, manager, accountant, marketing department, IT division, etc...from Real estate consultations, negotiations, drafting contracts, marketing, updating buyers and sellers, keeping track of the market, interest rates and mortgage programs, emailing on inquiries, blogging, web sites, and networking with others like we do here at Trulia. Being a REALTOR is a rewarding but very full time venture that has a huge impact on peoples lives, and is one of the most expensive and emotional things people do in their life. I am proud to be a part of such a life altering event in many peoples lives for so many years.
