"To Whom It May Concern:
I have known Ken Wessling for over 5 years. I have worked with him in his capacity both as listing agent and buyer’s agent. I believe that we have worked closely enough over these years for me to gain some insight into what type of person he is and the quality of service he delivers as a professional real estate agent.
The most important characteristic about Ken, and the one which sets him apart from other agents, is trust. It is rare to find an agent that isn’t simply trying to buy or sell you a house for the commission. With Ken, you soon realize that the commission is secondary to his desire to serve his clients and put their interests above his own. I can’t stress how important this trust factor is within the agent-client relationship. Without it, the opportunities for problems are numerous, and your experience as buyer or seller will probably not be a pleasant one.
Beyond trust, Ken is an extremely hard working person who brings enthusiasm to every buyer’s house search or home sale. He is an individual who is very flexible in his approach, meaning, he will be happy to take the lead in your search for a house, or let you do much of the searching based on your experience and preference. He realizes and values the fact that he works for you. You work directly with Ken (not a staff or administrative person), and you will feel comfortable in doing so since he makes himself very available.
When selecting an agent, the best advice that I can give is to find one who will truly work for you, one who places your interests first. I learned the hard way that an agent who is one of the most financially successful is not necessarily the person you want as your agent. Why? First, because there are many factors which may make an agent successful that have nothing to do with placing customers first. Second, if an agent is selling 100 houses per year, do you think if he loses your business it will matter much to him? Third, if an agent is spending his time schmoozing at local events and publishing newsletters, he probably isn’t spending the bulk of his time conducting real estate transactions and working with his clients. Many of the so-called best agents’ egos are so large they have trouble fitting them through your front door to make their sales presentation to you!
One last point of praise: In early 2007, we sold my wife’s home during a tough buyer’s market. The house was empty, the snow was falling, and people I knew said “good luck selling that house—houses just aren’t selling right now.” Not letting their attitudes curtail our optimism, we placed the home on the market right after the first of the year, and it sold in 16 days! Much of the credit for that fast sale goes to Ken and his marketing of the house.
I highly recommend Ken Wessling as both listing and buyer’s agent. I can state without reservation that you will not find an agent who will work harder for you.

If the home was truly on the market for back up offers only, the home is yours. I would have to see the contract & how it is written to see if you have a leg to stand on. - Thu May 8 2008, 13:31
