First of all, I am sorry that you are having such a negative experience with a real estate professional. The listing agent should known that real estate contracts need to be in writing. She can tell all the others to bid if she likes, but they are buyers just like yourself and will only be able to go as high as their purchasing power will allow. Go forward with your agent (now that she's back) just as you would have if this misunderstanding had not happened. Good luck in buying your new home! - Wed Apr 23 2008, 09:48

The most influential factors are usually condition and price. Try and put yourself in the buyer's shoes when getting your house ready for sale and things will come much easier for you. A stager works wonders if you have trouble with that. - Wed Apr 23 2008, 09:30

The best way is to contact your favorite real estate professional. They are are happy ot help and are trained to find these answers for you and can help with the steps to follow should you choose to pursue a purchase. - Wed Apr 23 2008, 09:12
Carrie Montellano answered:
They certainly can. I have personally sold a house directly from an open house, so it does happen. Usually agents hold open houses to generate new leads, but a good agent will utilize the open house to do both. She can promote herself while working hard for her seller and sell the home she is holding open. An open house also gives the agent an opportunity to 'sell' the home to the other agents who might be showing the house to their clients. It is just that one little extra personal touch that helps the process along. - Wed Apr 23 2008, 09:05
