This is not the only incident with this agent.... He has verbally abused me in other conversations that have taken place... Believe me when I say this....It took every ounce of my being to keep from picking up the table we were sitting at and throwing it at him!
Let me amend my first statement by saying I did not participate in the shouting session....(bad choice of words...sorry elvis). I at no point raised my voice in any way,nor did I threaten him in any way.....
To answer the response of Kathy. I would like him to have his license sent back to the state....Let him terrorize another office.... As long as it's not mine.... - Wed Feb 20 2008, 08:37
Thank you for all of the great advice.....I am going to pay the referral even though it is not required of me....It is not the other agents fault that this oversight occurred...It has also come to my attention that the referring agent is a relative of my client....So it would be a really bad idea not to pay!!
I would like to add another question concerning this issue....
Is it ethical for a family member to refer their family to a agent in another state....and what are the legal implications if this agent, once she is paid the referral, rebates it to her family....? - Sat Feb 2 2008, 14:02
Get over it Laurie!!!! Why do you hate it so much? Every agent has had the opportunity.....why not you? I'm not trying to be personal here but, you have a scathing hate for it!! Let me guess what happened.... Before you were a Realtor. Your agent didn't explain it to you correctly and he made more than you that month. Sounds like you don't like it when people are offered the chance to double their money! Its called capitalism! If you don't like it move to France!! Wait not France they hate us enough there!! How about Canada! - Wed Jan 30 2008, 14:07
In my opinion You do not have any responsibility to that seller. The agency relationship was never entered in to. You know at some point seller's would have to realize that if they interview enough agents it might be to their detriment. I make it a point to not know too much info about anyone. Bed's bath's and sq. ft. That's all I need to know. Getting too personal could get you in a pinch. - Mon Jan 28 2008, 22:57
I really can not believe what I am reading!! Why are agents not trying to figure out ways to make this situation better with dual agency?..... Why even put a sign in the ground with your number on it? The sign should read " Don't call me... Call another agent to call me" That is where this is leading if you would get your way.... OUR CLIENTS HIRE US TO SELL THEIR HOMES!!!! THEY KNOW THAT PEOPLE WILL CALL US!!! THEY ALSO DO NOT CARE IF WE BRING THEM A CONTRACT!....IN FACT WE ARE DOING WHAT THEY TOLD US TO DO!!! WHY SHOULD I SIT AROUND AND WAIT FOR THE MLS TO SELL MY CLIENTS HOME? I CAN FIND A BUYER FASTER THAN THE MLS!!! I FIND BUYERS FOR MY SELLERS!!! THAT IS WHAT THEY WANT!!! - Mon Jan 28 2008, 21:28
Scary mask? Sylvia, you became a Realtor to make money? My clients are fully informed! Who says they have to accept less just because of dual agency or do I not understand you correctly? - Sun Jan 27 2008, 23:08
I cannot believe what I'm reading!!! I let all my clients know that it is a strong possibility that I will bring them a buyer for their home! I have yet to run into anyone who would not be for that! I aggressively follow up on every web-based or other lead I get! Disclosure! Disclosure! Disclosure! Remember to go over them thoroughly!!! I talk disclosure first at my listing appointments when it's time for paperwork. Make sure you do not know too many details about your clients motivation or financial info. I agree that it is not for everyone so refer them all to me!! Ha ha! - Sun Jan 27 2008, 22:15
I'd take the listing if it was on a main road or if it was a Luxury property. I agree they are a waste of time....I market to FSBO's and they are the hardest to convince. They think you just want their money. Almost every FSBO thinks they're house is a gem and worth more than every house on the block!! I hit them with hard facts about the market we are in and how almost every deal now is having the appraisel reviewed. I tell them that even if you are selling your home for say like 250k. It still has to appraise for that to be a deal!!! Appraisers and banks set the price not realtors. If the appraisal comes in low they will have a decision to make! And it's not one they are gonna like! - Wed Jan 30 2008, 13:38
