I'm a lifelong Middle Tennessean. My father and grandfather were builders/developers and I grew up in the family business. In 2003 I transitioned into real estate sales and haven't looked back. I love meeting new people and helping them market their home or navigating the market if they are buying. 92% of my business is referral based so I must be doing something right!

Real estate is a business with a long memory--I would doubt that unless your realtor wanted to cut their own throat in the future that they would have any motivation to discourage you from a final walk through. Why don't you simply ask your realtor what they meant since it obviously bothered you? I bet doing that alone will clear the air. Also, since the movers are still there--you may want to do your walk through at the last possible time so as they are totally gone and you can view the house empty. - Wed May 14 2008, 12:45
Neel,
Like lots of things in life...it depends. Were you in an exclusive buyer's agency relationship with the buyer's agent? My short answer would be until you are in an exclusive agency relationship (meaning you've signed a buyer's representation agreement)--you are free to work with a realtor of your choice. My advice would be to interview two or three buyer's agents and then hire one of them to work on your behalf. It takes the head ache out of the process. You may still "find" a property on your own since most buyers are searching online--but the tricky time of the transaction is in the negotiation of the contract and the contract to close time period. Let a good agents expertise go to work for you! - Wed May 14 2008, 12:40
I sell all of Middle Tennessee--but specialize in the intown neighborhoods of Nashville. Half of my business is selling in the burgeoning loft/condo world surrounding our downtown and intown neighborhoods. Specifically Germantown, the Downtown core, the Gulch, around Vandy, Hillsboro Village, and East Nashville. The other half of my business consists of single family homes in many of the same intown markets, however, I do sell as far away as Thompson's Station, Franklin or anywhere my clients want to buy or sell.
I hold the Certified Residential Specialist designation. To earn that designation I was exposed to the absolute best education and practices that the Realtor community has to offer. I also proudly hold the ABR designation which trains Realtors to give top notch service to buyers.
I absolutely LOVE nature and the outdoors and wish I could spend everyday in the middle of the wilderness. In the outdoors I love to paddle, run, explore, hunt, camp, climb, gaze at stars, feel the wind, watch sunsets, listen to birds, and notice the ever subtle changes during the seasons. I also love introducing all of the aforementioned to my son. In addition I read in every spare moment. There is so much to know and understand! Professionally I love serving my clients in the highest capacity possible so that they can meet their goals. I strive to offer win/win solutions and be there to "go through" the process of buying or selling so that my clients never have to go it alone!
