My neighborhood picks, assuming you'll want the City of Seattle.....Madrona, Queen Anne for flat-out charm. Wallingford/Green Lke/Woodland Park for "kinda hip and lots of stuff to walk to", Madison Park for "upper crust charm". I also like the California/Admiral and Junction areas of West Seattle for "seriously hip", if you don't mind the bridge.
If you are Eastside bound, Bellevue in the 98004 zip for everything you would want in the 'burbs or downtown Kirkland for more flair.
In the north, look at Edmonds - super cute and water views.
