Dear Jamie,
The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Public School system recently added a couple of areas to its website that provide great information for evaluating individual schools in the system. One area is called the Data Dashboard and the other is called School Progress Reports. The School Progress reports incorporate parent ratings along with test scores. I've included a link to a blog post that I wrote recently about these information sources below.
Since you are interested in the southern part of the Charlotte region, you might also want to consider Union County NC. Schools there are also top-rated. Visit my website at http://www.CarolinaSmallTownLiving.com for more information about these areas and about the schools.
