In rent to own, does a seller gets to keep the down payment whether the buyer ends up buying the house or not?

Hi Bob,
it depends on how the contract was written but generally the seller keeps the down payment. Most rent to own buyer do not end up buying the home for a variety of reasons. Be very careful when entering into these contracts.
