Derek- Here is the latest update on the Leavenworth real estate market. Things have really slowed down since a year ago and prices have started to flatten. The general unease about the national economy is starting to have its affects here in Leavenworth.
(On a side note - I do have a buyer looking for a home on Lake Wenatchee. There really isn't much to choose from on the lake this summer.) - Tue Jul 15 2008, 11:59
Derek- Leavenworth has actually been doing stronger this year (2008) than Wenatchee which has cooled down from their very hot 2007. We are mostly a vacation home market and less effected by problems in the mortgage market.
Even in the Leavenworth area, real estate can be very different in distinct locales. Kahler Glen condos are in demand as is Lake Wenatchee waterfront while new construction condos in Leavenworth are pretty slow.
I write frequent posts on my blog - www.myleavenworth.com (see below for the latest update). Please come join the conversation - Fri May 2 2008, 22:10
I think this is what killed (or at least maimed) the Q+A over at Localism/ AR. Instead of working on creating a web 2.0 community it fostered a bunch of competing buffoons fighting for table scraps. - Wed Apr 30 2008, 23:29
I wouldn't expect to find many foreclosures in a vacation area like Leavenworth or Lake Wenatchee. We have seen great appreciation and continue to do so. You may run in to a short sale now and again, but even that is unlikely. You might try an area like Bend or someplace else that has really overbuilt. - Tue Mar 4 2008, 14:03
I'm sorry there aren't any lakes in North Central Washington that I would consider affordable. Fish Lake and Lake Wenatchee haven't been affordable in some time. There are often some deals on riverfront property - I can think of some recent options on Peshastin Creek just outside of Leavenworth. Let me know if I can give you any additional info. I have posted a number of articles about waterfront homes on my blog. (see below.) - Tue Mar 4 2008, 13:59
