About Me
I love Whidbey Island!!!
…and so will you. Whidbey Island is simply the best place to live in the Northwest. Our island is so ideally located that it provides easy access to Seattle, Vancouver, Port Townsend, and the Anacortes ferries to Canada and the San Juans. Every weekend our island hosts festivals, theater venues, concerts, and outdoor activities so numerous that you never want to leave. Farmers' markets and art fairs will become part of your shopping routine. Opportunities abound for boating, fishing, hiking, and exploring. Local business is friendly and personal. I live on Whidbey Island because wherever you go, people are smiling and it is contagious! It just simply feels good to live on Whidbey Island.

The Windermere Partnership
Our ability to provide consumers with an incredible experience makes us a great real estate company and me a great agent. People are more important than houses to us. We always start with the client's point of view. We solve people's needs while fulfilling their wants. We know everything about our neighborhoods and communities. A house is not only where people live, it is where memories are made and lives take place. We are a central part of the fabric of our community. We ease and guide the home buying processes and transform the leap of faith to ownership. We are facilitators, counselors, experts, and hand holders, which is much more than an agent. We are entrepreneurs. We protect our clients by educating them and negotiating on their behalf. Windermere and I are partners and together we provide the best results and make dreams come true.

The Approach
Buyers: Buying a home or land on Whidbey Island can be a unique experience. Understanding as-builts, septic systems, wells, community water systems, and the Conditions, Covenants, and Restrictions on the property that you plan to purchase is critical. I will fully represent your interests, constantly communicate, and professionally guide you throughout the entire purchase. Sellers: You can depend on my extensive marketing, design, and sales background to help you sell your home. Together we will develop a solid strategic marketing plan geared to achieve the maximum return on your investment. I will represent you with integrity and fully negotiate in your best interests.

The Result
Buyers: Welcome home to Whidbey. Sellers: Your home is sold.

Mary Matthew answered:
I just looked up and noticed that you are a CB agent in Oak Harbor. You know the answer to your question. I find it curious that you would ask a question about a market that you should be familiar with since you work on Whidbey. - Wed Mar 12 2008, 15:15
Mary Matthew answered:
This is a tricky question. I agree that you need to be listed on the MLS. Most of our clients are looking at a web-site to help them with their initail property search. The liability question for a real estate agents is huge. If we are selling a property that has an unrepresented seller, we can fall into dural agency if we are not careful. When we are only representing the buyer but the seller has questions that we would not normally answer if we are representing a seller. The listing agent would be protecting the sellers interests and the buyers agent would be protecting the buyers interest. The delimna is that a good realtor is educated in their field and knows the laws of agency in their state and understands their liablilitesand responsibilities. If a question is asked by the seller and the realtor does not answer the question for the seller because it may not benefit their client, is this ethical? If they do answer, is it in their buyers best interest? You sound as if you are a very savy seller and I assume that you will have your real estate attorney look over offers that you receive. If this is the case, I would feel much more comfortable showcasing your property to my clients. The bottom line is that although you are offering 3%, the extra liability that the real estate agent undertakes may not be worth the commission. Every agent needs to answer the liability question for his or her own business. - Wed Mar 12 2008, 13:18

Specialties
Waterfront and Waterview property is my speciality. I am well versed in bluff issues, flood zones, wetlands, soil logs, septic systems, land use, and wells. I know Whidbey Island and will be able to introduce anyone that is considering moving to this amazing place to all that the island has to offer along with the secret areas that add to the charm of the island.
Certifications & Awards
Real Estate is constantly changing and is very fast paced. Just the technology alone takes considerable hours of work each week just to keep pace. I believe in continual education and as your agent my pledge is to keep up with all the information that would be valuable to you when you are either negotiating a sale or listing a house on Whidbey Island. I do not limit my education just to designations, I take classes on issues that I believe are important to my clients. I am also a Realtor. This means that I must adhere to the Realtors strict code of ethics. I am very proud to be part of this fine organization.

My Certifications are as follows:

Certified Negotiation Expert Designation, CNE

This certification did not make me a great negotiator. I was a pretty good negotiator before I received this designation. What it did for me was to polish the negotiation skills that I used throughout my business career, thus making me a better negotiator for my real estate clients.

Acredited Buyers Representative Designation, ABR

The ABR designation is the benchmark of excellence in buyers representation. This coveted designation is awarded to real estate practitioners by the Real Estate Buyer's Agent Council (REBAC) of the National Association of Realtors who meet the specified educational and practical experience criteria. I am very proud to hold this designation and I believe that it helps my clients because I have learned to be very good at methodically evaluating prices for my clients. I study the list/price ratios, the days on market, the absorption rate, and supply and demand. This helps my clients make informed offers for properties that they are interested in purchasing. I am supply my clients with solid information to use during their negotiation and throughout the buying process.
Interests
Traveling is my first love. My past career involved traveling around the world and working with manufacturers in Italy, France, Germany, Japan, China, Korea, New Zealand and Australia. My expeirence taught me to be open and see the world through the eyes of others. I am very lucky to have had this opportunity and of course, I continue to travel on vacation.

People are important in my life and I tend to organize all my friends to host events or get together for music venues, wine tasting or to just informal pot lucks. Did you notice that I said organize my friends, they have recently caught on to the fact that I seem to have all the brilliant ideas but I am not the one that executes these get togethers. My friends are currently ganging up on me and making me host events. Oh well, I got caught. No worries, I will do my part and let other people organize me.

I am also terribly interested and passionate about politics, the enviornment, the quality of life and Whidbey Island. I enjoy all that Whidbey Island has to offer, the festivals, the small independently owned shops, the theater, the hiking opportunities, and whale watching, just to name a few reasons why I love Whidbey Island.
