Nancy, the biggest difference is that folks that live in the house in Florida get a "Homestead exemption" which reduces the tax assessed value by $25,000 and effectively saves about $400-$600 a year on taxes. So it's not that you are taxed at a higher rate it's just you don't qualify for the exemption. I hope this helps. - Thu Jun 12 2008, 07:04

Kim it depends. If they were foreclosure properties the owners may have removed them prior to being foreclosed on. Unfortunately folks in this position tend to strip the houses. Or...they remove outlets covers to paint. Were they freshly painted?

You are certainly free to purchase with no restrictions. Kissimmee is sprawling area so there are many options for homes close to Disney. Since you are not interested in Holiday lets you have many more options. You can find a really good 4 bedrooom pool home from as low as $250,000 to as high as......well as high you want you to go.
