Reev Rohter answered:
Buying a home in Irving is not much different than any other area in North Texas. There are many areas including Irving that have very expansive soil. When the soil that has a high clay content gets wet it expands, and when it dries out it contracts.

When looking for a home, it is always a good idea to ask the builder what method they used in pouring the foundation as some are better than others.

As far as prices...unfortunately the builder can raise them at will during the building phases. The true value of these properties usually is more clear after the builder has left and people start reselling them.

Although significant rises in prices seem to be great, you must be careful that is builder induced appreciation. - Mon Feb 25 2008, 20:05
