There are several nice areas in the area. I have lived in Santa Barbara since 1982 and now what areas feel safe to me. Another way that you can find out about crime in certain areas of town is to talk to the police department. I did move away from Santa Barbara for five and came back. I love the area and have always felt safe. But remember, this is my perception. Do your investigations.
