Advice on starting out, mentors

Bill Kosena answered:
Hi Don,

Talk with your managing broker about what he/she thinks would be a fair mentor compensation. Each mentoring program I have seen offers different levels of involvment from the mentor. Thus, the compensation package necessary will be different.

The best advice I can give you, after being in the business for the past 30 years, is to do the type of real estate you like the best. You will be very successful if you just do the parts you enjoy. You will fail if you try to do the parts you don't enjoy. For example, I totally hated geographical farming. Especially the part where I was told I had to go knock on doors every weekend. I found it quite objectonable and guess what, I never did more than break even with my three attempts at geographical farming.

Best wishes,
