I had a "dry closing" a few weeks ago, it took a week to distribute checks. So this sort of situation is not uncommon. My deal was a cash deal on a bank owned property, so we didn't have to worry about prorating payoff for a mortgage.
In your case - Get in touch with your attorney, it is a sign of poor service that they are not returning your calls. get aggressive and get some answers.
