Originally from Skokie, Illinois, Andy currently resides in Chicago's shopping district, on North Michigan Ave., with his newly wed wife, Roseanne. Andy received his bachelor of arts degree from Columbia College Chicago, and after investing in real estate for 5 years, Andy received his real estate license in 2006. In his spare time, you'll find Andy checking out new restaurants, attending live concerts, bike riding along the lakefront, and maybe even attempting to play a little piano. Andy is known for having a cell phone in one hand, and a Starbucks coffee in the other! After pulling off a surprise vacation to get engaged in Rome, Andy and Roseanne were married in September of 2006. Their honeymoon was spent in Paris, London, Monaco and Nice! It's no wonder Andy asks himself "Why do I still live in Chicago!?" Cause he really does love the city. He could live without winter, but that wouldn't be Chicago. Andy has been involved in real estate as an investor, having rehabbed and rented numerous condominiums throughout Chicago. Andy currently owns property in neighborhoods from East Rogers Park on the far north side all the way down through the South Loop. He has lived in many areas and is quite familiar with the variety of new and resale options in Chicago's "up and coming" areas in addition to the highly desired downtown and near north neighborhoods along the lakefront. Andy's computer programming background combined with his knowledge of Chicagoland allows him to make the best use of the current technology to help his buyers, sellers and investors find the right property for their needs.

It is more expensive to purchase than rent... initially. Historically property values in Chicago have doubled every 7 years on average since the 1920s. Some areas do better then that, as some do worse too. Over all, property tends to go up in value over time, and it's how the majority of people become wealthy over time. As they say, don't wait to buy, rather buy than wait. I've been investing in Chicago real estate since 2001, now owning a number of properties around the city, I've seen some amazing growth in value, and the 7 year average seems to be holding true for my investments. As for knowing what you can afford, you need to speak with a mortgage broker to determine what the exact numbers would be. A good starting point is to figure $5.50 per $1000 borrowed. So, if you borrowed $200,000, your monthly payment would roughly be $1100.00. When looking at real estate prices you also must consider monthly assessments and taxes. There are many tax deductions for owning real estate as well, so while it may seems more expensive initially, your tax return will put a big smile on your face - divide that over a year, and your monthly costs will be close to what it cost in rent. Please contact me with any questions - I'm happy to help. Good luck to you. - Thu May 24 2007, 09:05
You might take a look at the south-eastern end of Lincoln Park, around Clark and Armitage. It's near the lake, zoo, park, and is very kid friendly. If that is too pricey, you might consider Buena Park. Buena Park is along the lake front just north of Irving Park Rd. You get a little more for your money up there, and you can still be close to the lake, park and golf course. It's a little quieter of an area too, if that appeals to you. See the Wikipedia link below for more info, or contact me and I'll be happy to help you out. Thanks. - Wed May 23 2007, 10:36
If Lakeview is getting too expensive, you may want to consider Andersonville, which is centered around the intersection of Clark and Foster on the north side of the city. Andersonville is home to many great restaurants, bars, art galleries, theaters and is bordered by Uptown (also a thriving area). Andersonville is near the lake too, and is accessible by the Red Line EL (Argyle & Bryn Mawr). Check out the Andersonville Chamber of Commerce site below. Good luck! - Tue May 22 2007, 16:49
Chicago is a food lover's town - every neighborhood has great restaurants. You'll find the super trendy places in Bucktown / Wickerpark. The downtown area has some great restaurants as well, though many can be very touristy. The west-loop is an up and coming area with many newer restaurants too. A great place to find restaurants and read reviews is Metromix.com.
Good luck! - Tue May 22 2007, 15:27
