About Me
I relocated to Charleston, South Carolina from the Northeast in 2005 - I had enough of the snow and my two daughters wanted to attend The College of Charleston. My daughters and I love the Charleston area and are enjoying the great quality of life.

I have over 28 years of business experience that encompasses marketing, management, sales, education, technology, and real estate. I believe that my unique background enables me to provide an exceptional home sales and buying experience for my clients.

I am active in the community and currently hold the elected position of President of the Zonta Club of Charleston (www.zonta.org). I am slos involved with ALS fundraising in memory of her brother Brian Cody.

Clients and friends would say that I am an honest, dependable professional, with superior computer knowlege, along with excellent communication skills.

I have earned designation as a Fine Homes & Estates Specialist with Century 21 Properties Plus and I would consider it a privilege to assist you with your buying and selling real estate needs!

Hi Ruth

Here is a link to the Catholic Schools in the Charleston SC area:

There's alot to consider as far as where you should move to within the Charleston area. I moved to Summerville when I first moved here and have recently moved to Mt Pleasant - becuase I found my business clients, social life, and my daughters attending the College of Charleston all kept bringing me more to this area.
Though it's only about 1/2 drive to Summerville from Charleston - during morning and pm commute it can take significantly longer.
It will boil down to wieghing out criteria such as:
* where will you be working
* which school is best for your son
* which Catholic church parish is best for you
* price range for a home

Dear Mmej,

There are alot of factors that can go into the selling process. You've recieved good information with the prior answers. As Realtors we have access to data which will help you to better understand the market and specifically how it impacts your home.

Before jumping into a new contract with anyone, you should consider nterviewing at least a couple of Realtors to discern what each can offer you with marketing plans, company support...and to determine which has a communication style that meets your expectations. It sounds like communication is important to you.

I own a home in Wescott and would welcome the opportunity to be included in your interviews for a potential new listing contract. I take pride in the close communication I maintain with all of my clients.

I look forward to sharing my creative marketing ideas with you!

Maureen

Charleston is an amazing area!

If you can provide your email address, along with other wishes/needs for a home. I can create an automatic email search for properties matching your criteria for the Charleston area (ex. 200-250K, number of bedrooms, ....etc)

Charleston is abound with cultural/creative theatre and art. You will love the area as there is so much to do between music, art, historical properties and museums, plantations, golf courses, fabulous restaurants, the sandy beaches....and of course the southern hospitality!!

This link will take you to information on the upcoming annual Spoleto Festival, check it out! :
http://www.charlestonlowcountry.com/specialpages/spoleto.html

The festival has a classy and fun finale - here's some info about that:

This grand festival tradition takes on an even more special luster with a return to the Butterfly Lakes, a truly magical setting for the final concert of the 2008 Spoleto Festival USA season. Arrive early to stroll through the landscaped gardens of Middleton Place and enjoy a pre-concert picnic. For a celebratory end to the day, the Spoleto Festival USA Orchestra will offer a thrilling concert under the stars conducted by John Kennedy. The program will include Aaron Jay Kernis' New Era Dance, Philip Glass' Two Interludes from the Civil Wars, Todd Levin's Blur, and Aaron Copeland's Symphony No. 3. The evening will be capped off by a spectacular fireworks display.

I moved here from NY (originally from Boston) at the end of 2005 and my daughters absolutely LOVE it here! They both attend college downtown Charleston - one is at the College of Charleston and my older daughter attends the new Art Institute of Charleston.

I would love to chat with you to discuss further particular needs so that I can best assist you.

Question removed

Maureen Cody answered:
Dear Amanda,

Does your agent have his own site? What type of Internet marketing is he doing?
Is he with a broker with national presence?
As example, Century 21 has a national site where people can search the MLS across the country.
Craigslist is free and gets alot of activity.
Sending email marketing to local agents helps to keep in the front of their minds as they are working with buyers.
Consider offering incentives - higher commission to the selling agent, special offer to buyers with a contract by a certain date.

Amanda there is so much inventory out there, your home has to stand out from the rest and stay ahead of the homes that are your competition for sale in your area - be sure you know what they are offering as well.

I hope this has helped. I am sure your agent is working hard. Got to keep thinking creatively.

Best Regards,
Maureen

Question removed

Maureen Cody answered:
Dear B Smith,
There's alot to consider and more information needed in order to best help you with your dilemma.

First, where is your current home located and where is the location of your "dream" home
Second, how long has your home been on the market? Is it FSBO or do you have it listed in MLS?
Third, are you working with a mortgage broker?

This is an important decision for you and your family - too much detail to converse via email in this format.

If you would like to contact me directly, I'd be happy to assist you or at least point you in the right direction.

Best Regards,
Maureen
