Foreclosures presenting unrealistic goals?

natashabrt answered:
Yes, I can definitely relate to you. I am a realtor in Bronx, NY and when I come across buyers looking for foreclosures in the Bronx, they too have unrealistic concepts of foreclosures. They want 2 family homes for 150k - 250K with 3 beds, 2 baths, backyard, garage and yes brick?? I just tell them the truth and that is impossible! Foreclosure means that the owner could not pay their mortgage. NOT that the homes are free! If that was the case there would be no homes on the foreclosure list. Usually, when you explain to them that a foreclosed home is only a bargain if they feel it is depending on the condition of the house and you show them different examples and if they are in pre-foreclosure status they still could be sold close to market value. Not only that, the listed price looks good to everyone so they usually have to bid hire than the listing price just to get the property. That kind of straight talk usual brings them back to reality. - Fri Nov 21 2008, 13:57
