Meredith,

Boca has a lot of great, family friendly areas. Unfortunately, taxes are going to be a bit higher than what you're used to.

The amenities however are terriffic! One of the first decisions you're going to need to make is the type of neighborhood you're interested in, and if you're going to prefer living East (primarily east of I-95 or Military trail) or West (usually a little bit newer and less expensive).

Have you had any time to drive through the area yet? If not, just a general overview tour would be really helpful for you. If you let me know your price range I'd be happy to e mail a map that you could follow to see the different types of neighborhoods available in the different areas.

I can be reached at michael.demcho@floridamoves.com or you can take a look at my web site and search properties athttp:// www.bocapreviews.com.

Good luck with your search and welcome to sunny South Florida. - Sun May 18 2008, 06:07

I have an agent in my office that is top notch, handles rentals in the Delray Beach/ Boca markets. She's busy (over 200 units last year) but caring and her customers love her. If you'd like to contact me at michael.demcho@floridamoves.com I'd be pleased to give you further information. - Sat May 3 2008, 04:20

Chuck,

I agree it's a quality of life issue not primarily a factor in holding value. Some buyers like the gated, social lifestyle and others want to specifically avoid it.

What will make a big difference in value is the law of supply and demand which is usually driven by inventory. If there is a lot of inventory relative to the number of buyers looking for the area the values will suffer.

The best advice I could offer...decide on a lifestyle, then look for an area that doesn't have a lot of properties that were purchased for speculation creating an overabundance of inventory - Tue Apr 22 2008, 14:04

I couldn't disagree more. A brokers open can be a valuable tool but it must be properly promoted and the home must be priced well for the market.

Realtors are more likely to show properties they have seen and believe are a good value. With inventories being so high in some areas anything you can do to stand out is helpful. - Fri Apr 18 2008, 04:45
