In my market, there has previously been a great growth due to Chicago sububanites moving to our area due to the affordable housing that they can find. Majority of these buyers had jobs in the city and had a 45+ minute commute. We have not seen that influence since the gas prices began to escalate. There have actually been many previous buyers that found it to expensive to commute and ending up selling (or abandoning) their homes and moving back closer to work.
