Welcome back to the Charlotte area. I am sure that you will find many changes in the city since your departure, but also the comfort of many things remaining the same.
I just did a search and there are currently 57 properties in your price range alone in the ballanytne area and many, many more in the fort mill, sc area.
As many have advised, the property taxes are lower in SC than they are in NC. A realtor can assist you with calculating the taxes on any home that you are considering.
As you are currenlty living in Pensacola, you will be amazed at how inexpensive the home owners insurance is here. We moved here from FL too, and our insurance in Fl was $3000/year....here is it $400 per year.
