Absolutely! We are small town, but without the "small-town" cliches you might expect. I moved my daughters to Bandera (from South Carolina) when they were in they were in the 4th and 6th grades, having been homeschooled for a couple years. They were immediately accepted, befriended and invited to get involved in everything from 4-H to sports to church activities. They both graduated and walked the stage to receive their diplomas, getting hugs, not handshakes, because the adminstration knew who they were, the things they were involved with throughout their high school careers, who their Mom was and where they lived. It was an awesome thing!

We are primarily a small, rural, ranching community, but we have much to offer! There are "old-timers" here, but most of us are just like you -- we moved here from somewhere else because we appreciated the slower paced, small town, wholesome, friendly atmosphere that Bandera offers. Of course, when you move here, you have a responsibility to continue the tradition! We don't honk our horns unless we're trying to get someone's attention for a friendly wave, we leave the traffic gap open so others can pull into the roadway, we stop and let people cross the road, we hold the door open for men and women alike, we never show up without calling first and we treat everyone with friendlly courtesy. You can expect others to treat you and your family the same!
