Greetings from beautiful Austin, Texas! I'm an agent/partner in Austin Distinction Realty. I've marketed investor portfolios, single family homes (even those with out of town ownership), condos, lots, and even mobile homes so I've gotten to see many, many ways to buy and sell property. Although I work in Real Estate for a living, my focus through a transaction is to develop long lasting friendships with clients -- and I do that by watching out for a client's interest like they are family! I enjoy live music, sailing, tubing, yard work, friends, family, and creative deck lounging!

You can telephone Fernando Hernandez-Garza, the director of the the program, at 512.974.3114 or reach him @ fernando.hernandez@ci.austin.tx.us. These folks have a genuine interest in helping people own homes and are very respectful -- and, they are very patient -- it's my understanding that Travis County also has funds available for down payment asistance (on similar terms to the city's program) for property located outside the city of Austin proper yet inside county lines -- that caveat could make possible a purchase in Pfugerville, Manor, etc -- check it out -- - Sat Jul 19 2008, 06:56
welcome to austin! i'm a "core" fan -- the center of town moving due north up through hyde park, brentwood/crestview, and pretty much ending south of 183 -- for the next 5 yrs, this area will continue to thrive because of the access to downtown, it's "big lot" charm, and mild mannered attitude. think of mopac and 35/the river and 183 as a rectangle -- of course, the per square footage price is going to be larger near downtown but many good values are available north of anderson lane -- another option further out along 183 is anderson mill--terrific schools, great access, houses are gonna run about $100/sqft -- lemme know if i can help - Tue Jul 8 2008, 14:43
while definently not an attorney or accountant and cannot advise re: legality or tax implications, i'd investigate the possiblitity of forming a u s corporation or trust and, after establishing credentials with a local bank, use that entity through which to channel the investment. you may find it worthwhile to visit in person with investment departments with austin finance institutions. there will also be tax considerations within your country of residence as well. - Mon Jun 2 2008, 12:55
we did a project similar to the one you're contemplating and had terrific success using a gentleman named john carrell (there is another john carrol here in town -- not to be confused) -- mr. carrell is an honest man and treated my money like it was his own -- he delivered an excellent product and the pricing was competitive -- we used benson crowell as a designer and the overall result was GREAT! john can be reached at 301-9408 -- you should give him call -- if you would like to see the product of his efforts following a visit, we'd be glad to show you our project (completed a little over a year ago. - Sun May 4 2008, 08:44
hey charolette - was thinkin bout your search and it hit me like a dozen quail eggs all at once! there's two houses in the crestview/brentwood 'hood that might work -- they aren't on mkt at this time but i believe the owners might be receptive to an offer -- you're probably looking closer to $200k but really will be in a place to pay off in 3-5 yrs - Mon Apr 28 2008, 08:07
quailworld--i love it! --- yes ma'am -- even with mapquest and mapsco i still get turned around in there -- there's some nice places in that area -- there may even be some gems in north brentwood/crestview inside 183 too -- with the light rail coming (seems they've started some prelim work on crestview station) downtown isn't a tough deal -- i'm in the bidness of helping out -- roy@roydubose.com - Thu Mar 20 2008, 14:19
'ya gotta love the attention huh charlotte?? for that kinda money, i'd be looking in the area north of 183 between mopac n 35 -- realistically it's gonna be the closest to downtown anyone's gonna find -- it is accessible to all the fun and is strategically located for other activities -- you might get lucky and find something inside 183 (wooten area) -- traffic will be a challenge but not like coming in from rr or cpark -- lamar could be better commute option -- this central corridor will continue to appreciate -- there's nowhere else to go except up (high rise condos) - Wed Mar 19 2008, 09:56
