As a Triad area broker I can tell you that now is a terrific time to sell. Rates are low and people with decent credit have no problems getting financing. If you would like I will be glad to give you some comps so that you can see what to expect regarding time and money. Visit my website, jimsellsthetriad.net, and contact me if you would like help. - Wed Apr 16 2008, 11:15
Take a visit to the Piedmont Triad area of North Carolina. That includes Greensboro, High Point, Winston- Salem and the surrounding cities and towns. After having been born and living in Charlotte, it is a nice place to go for some entertainment but who wants to deal with traffic and taxes. Just visit my website, jimsellsthetriad.net, and use the search function there and see the exciting things happening in the Piedmont Triad. - Wed Apr 16 2008, 11:09
My advice is to look south to Randolph County. Taxes are lower and there is more room for the kids. Visit my website, jimsellsthetriad.net, and look for properties in the Randlman, Trinity, and Archdale areas. That will put you close to Guilford County, but will give you many extras that add to quality of life. You might even get a better deal on the house. - Wed Apr 16 2008, 11:03

Absolutely not! A first time home buyer doesn't have the expertise in negotiating a fair price that would allow for improvements, probably does not have established credit to allow the bank to loan on that basis, and probably does not have the skills to do the renovation. Stick with a nice starter home and learn to do the maintenance before you bite off a larger chunk. - Wed Apr 16 2008, 10:47
