Michael Thompson came to the real estate profession after spending 15 years in corporate business. His last position was a commodity manager for the largest automotive supplier in the world. Their annual sales are approximately 30 billion dollars annually. Michael's responsibilities were to manage a 55 million-dollar account, to negotiate contracts, and to look for cost-cutting measures to name a few.
He traveled domestically and internationally doing business with men and women from various countries all over the world. For example, he has participated in international business conferences where the participants included representatives from Australia, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Japan, Korea, Mexico, and USA.
After a great deal of soul searching, Michael concluded that there was more to life than bringing profit to corporate America. So, he decided to challenge a 16-year incumbent on the county council. He won!
Michael has since been re-elected to the county council and is now serving as its chairman. He serves on the Board of Directors for three organizations; the Appalachian Council of Governments, the Anderson Area Chamber of Commerce, and Innovate Anderson (formerly The Anderson County Development Partnership). He serves also on the executive committee for Innovate Anderson, as an alternate on the executive committee for the Appalachian Council of Governments, and on the Comprehensive Economic Development Committee for the Appalachian Council of Governments. He is a member of the Anderson Rotary Club and a member of the Friends of the Museum.
When Michael won his first election to the county council, he left corporate business and entered the real estate profession. He has done very well in this profession. He had five closings in his first six months, which is outstanding. He was named "Agent of the Month" during his fourth month for having sold the most in his agency during the previous month.
Michael works in both residential and commericial real estate markets. He has sold residential properties, convenience stores, land, and horse farms.
Michael earned an MBA degree from the Debusk School of Business. He has also earned other degrees in organizational management and engineering technology. He is a veteran of the United States Navy and a graduate of the Naval Nuclear Power School with specialty in reactor operations. He is a graduate of the Wyatt Institute of Real Estate also.
So, when Michael is not helping families find their new home or helping to sale their old one or helping an aspiring business person find that ideal commercial property; he is helping to improve roads, resolving county issues, or responding to his constituents concerns. He finds all these activities very rewarding because he is making a difference in the community and in other people's lives.
If you are looking for a real estate professional that understands business, the art of negotiations, and the importance of customer service, then Michael Thompson is the Realtor for you!
