I have been a Realtor for 13 years, so fortunately I have had the pleasure of creating 'Customers for Life'. I think the best improvement any agent can do to improve our business is be fair and honest. Sellers and Buyers need to know the truth. Side stepping issues regarding condition of a home or the sale ability of the home based on it's condition does no justice to you or the seller. That doesn't mean they always listen; however, when you tell them the truth up front then when the home doesn't sell they have only themselves to blame. I recently told a seller he had to paint...he said 'well' ~ as we began looking at other homes for him to purchase, he stated ' you were right now I get it'.
We are professionals and always keeping that in mind and respecting our clients yet being honest will most times bring them back to you for a future purchase if not referrals due to your professionalism and honesty.
'Do unto others as you would have them do unto you' words we all know well; however, sometimes agents forget in lieu of a commission. You can choose to be a short term agent and make quick money or create 'customers for life' and do the right thing. - Thu Sep 10 2009, 09:45
