I have just read these three answers and I am a Parent and Realtor here in Houston County. I have had a son graduate from Houston County High School, after being rezoned a second son to graduate from Warner Robins High School and a daughter getting ready to start Warner Robins High. We moved here 13 years ago and have went from pre-k to 12th grade graduates and I have honestly found that the school system for the most part are excellent. I feel fortunate to have had some caring teachers with my kids. Yes there have been a few that I was not pleased with and glad to see the school year end, but the good out weighed the bad. My kids were into basketball, baseball, swimming, gymnastics and cheerleading. I have always tried as much as possible to be involved in school and other activities with them. I do agree we need more things for our kids to do other than the movies or just hanging at the mall. The churches here are very teen oriented and they do alot with them year round.
On the note of the builders, yes we had builders that came and went, I am sure this went on everywhere. For this matter when buying a new or older home, GET AN INSPECTION. Use a reputable inspector. Ask your agent, we know great builders and we know the neighborhoods that they are throwing up in a month. Ask your agent every question you can think of and ask their advice, that is what we are here for. If you look at the market in our area, yes some ares have fallen in price some areas have stayed steady and yes we have areas that have gone up in price. Be aware your Realtor knows these areas, when looking for a home in any price range we can help you look ahead.
One piece of advice, interview 3 Realtors before you ever look at one house. If you are using a referral company and you are not happy with your agent let your referral company know, they will get you another agent.
Find an agent that will work with you and explain things to you and work at your pace. Interview the schools, talk to parents about the schools their kids go to, as a Realtor it is my job to make sure you get what you are looking for hear. Our job market is good, we don't have a high unemployment rate in Houston County, we are growing and we are learning to adjust. Being from a much larger military base in North Carolina, this is a great place to be. After 13 years I can't imagine being anywhere else. I hate that Philip has had a bad experience here, but Warner Robins is a great place to live and raise a family.
Patti, I hope that since April you have found a great neighborhood and I hope your kids will be happy in the schools, being new here if I can get you any info about activities for your kids, just let me know. - Tue Jun 30 2009, 21:07
