Good morning Teresa....

You have asked a very "straight forward" question and thus deserves an equal answer. Use a Napa Realtor that maintains the professionalism and ability that would be required for a successful home purchase.

After 33 years in the business I will say in a few cases there were Realtors I have met that have a fair to good knowledge base of their surrounding areas but most generally never the explicit knowledge you would find from a Realtor that resides within the community. For example, I participate regularly at the school where my son attends and can give school information that only a parent in my position could provide. I have 3 local websites that are designed to provide neighborhood information. I own homes in 2 of the neighborhoods and work in the 3rd. That is true "local knowledge" that is tough to equal. I have listed 2 of my websites below. In most cases, a St. Helena resident Realtor knows more about their community than I even though I have successfully sold and listed homes within that community.

Now, does a Realtor have to be born and raised within the city to provide the best information...absolutely not. If you desire the "History" of Napa and how it used to be visit my website " www.NapaOldTown.com " and click on "Napa History" in the left hand column or visit and talk to one of the "old sages" for some interesting stories. Napa is a city where many changes have taken place over the last 7 years and many more will continue to happen in the near future. Go to my website at " www.NapaOnTheWater.com " and scroll 1/3 of the way down the page to the article that says "Register Article 9/08/07: On The Riverfront. Napa is experiencing a transitional period and this will continue for years to come.

Good luck with your search. I was also a midwest resident (Iowa) before transitioning to California in 1992.

Good morning Teresa....
Napa is like most smaller communities and has its strong points as well as weak points. Kids today need consistent and loving parental guidence no matter which city they reside. If the kids come from a loving home where they are honored this will shine irregardless of the exterior environment.
I moved to Ca. in 1992 from the midwest and found the school system less than adequate in many communities. Overcrowded classrooms, unqualified teachers, low test scores, etc. I guess I was spoiled coming from the midwest. As a parent you must be diligent when researching local schools. Please use my website ( http://www.NapaOnTheWater.com ) and notice the left column of the front page and scroll to "Napa Schools" and click. Then once you are on the Napa Schools Page click on "Great Schools Info" and go from there. This website should help with other local questions, events, entertainment, etc. I have found a wonderful high School in Napa, New Technology High School, that has a great "hands on" approach. Should you have additional questions I would be happy to give you some real answers. Napa is a great place to raise kids when you spend quality time with your children.

Hello Rhena...

Ute did a great job....Oct. 13, 1994 was the last transfer date. The property appears to be a single level, 1179 sq.ft., 3 Bdrm./1 Ba. w/ fireplace sitting on a 7000 sq.ft. lot. It was built in 1947.

Need advice on what area in Napa Valley is a better investment?

Rob Bunce answered:
Good morning Bill.....

I read your question and couldn't help but offer my 2 cents. After spending more than 30 years in the Real Estate business there is one appreciable item that never seems to fail and that is a location on the water. That same fact holds true in Napa. One of our best kept secrets in Napa used to be our waterfront but not anymore. The Napa Yacht Club and River Park offer waterfront opportunities that provide "private docks" and breathtaking views not to mention being 2 1/2 hours by watercraft from San Francisco Bay.

The City of Napa, after a considerable amount of time planning, is developing a waterfront that will offer visitors and Napans alike, 1st class shopping, dining and accommmodations. If you live in San Francisco, you can motor your yacht to Napa and dock at the (soon to be) new 220' dock and then walk a few steps to your shopping, accommodations and restaurants galore. If you'd like to read more you can go to one of my websites athttp:// www.NapaOnTheWater.com.

My professional opinion would tell me that "Napa Waterfront" could possibly be your best bet. Good luck in your search. You have definitely picked a great area. - Wed Oct 17 2007, 09:11
