Hi Samantha,
Log home construction typically has a higher cost of construction than your traditonal wood frame home, but is relative to the level of finish, design, quality of the logs (Kit vs. custom, size, hand-hewn, etc.) and many other factors can contribute to the costs. In addition to the potential cost difference on the construction side, there are on-going maintenance items to consider as well that include sealing the exterior of the logs, maintaining the chinking, and repairing interior areas that shift slightly due to the shrinking of the logs over a period of time in our dry climate. - Thu Apr 23 2009, 06:09
