The answer to your question is probably yes. Your lender will ask you to provide a gift letter from your parents which confirms that the money you are receiving is not a loan. Consult with your loan officer who will provide you the correct answer, and what documents are required to process your mortgage loan. - Mon May 12 2008, 17:19
The responses the other Realtors provided you to date look good to me. I wish to add that the seller's agent probably should not be disclosing any personal information about the seller's without that seller's permission. Based on the limited information given, it appears that seller's agent statement may violate the ethical standards Realtors are required to practice. Since that agent opened the door by making that statement if I were repesenting you I would be asking that agent to please clarify the statement. You can do that since you are not represented by a buyer's agent. As stated, the written contract takes precedence over any verbal statements. Good luck! - Mon May 12 2008, 17:14
All Real Estate is local, but the general trend especially in most of our larger cities, is that this is a buyer's market. I am a REALTOR that works in the San Antonio, TX market. I tell my potential buyer clients that if they will be living here for at least three years then now is probably a good time to buy. Interest rates are at record lows. No Realtor can guarantee the bottom of the housing market any more than your stock broker can predict when the current stock market will bottom. Seek the counsel of an experienced REALTOR in San Francisc who will provide you the relevant information you require to make an informed decision. - Mon May 12 2008, 16:52
