The simple answer is YES!!! Rental rates for single family homes are in most cases better than an apartment (for what you get). There are not as many units to rent, and in most cases will be rented pretty quickly. Houston has one of the best job markets in the nation. My only caution-stay in the best school districts with neighborhoods with good amenities (pools and parks etc for resale purposes). Newer homes if you can.
