Can low commission hurt my sale?

Matthew answered:
In this market I would not take any listing under 6%. This is how we make our living, but for the 6% you get all the experience of a Realtor who knows the in's and outs of trying to sell your home. It cost the Realtor money to take a listing. We pay that out of our own pocket up front and it is not fair of you to diddle around with the hard won commission. If your home does not sell the agent is out$ with no way to recoup the loss. Actually 7% would be more of a fair trade. If you find an agent who takes less than 6% it means they are desperate for listings, which in this market and your area does not bode well for a Realtor driven sale and the Realtor who accepts your listing. Unless you have a multi-million dolar home in which case none of the above applies. Good Luck - Sat Jun 27 2009, 13:26
